The DeSIRe was developed to support relatives of children with βeta-thalassaemia major in Pakistan to make informed decisions about thalassaemia carrier testing.
The Punjab Thalassaemia Prevention Project (PTPP) provides a range of thalassaemia screening and prevention services in the Punjab province of Pakistan. The DeSIRe is now part of PTPP’s resources to improve communication between healthcare professionals and relatives.
