Implementation Toolkit

Implementation Toolkit

What is the implementation toolkit?

The implementation toolkit contains the resources needed to use the DeSIRe.  These resources include the following:

  • Training materials for healthcare professionals (workshop PowerPoint slides (English only and workshop handbook (English only), and training evaluation forms (forms in English and in Urdu)); and
  • Questionnaires to evaluate the DeSIRe for healthcare professionals and relatives (in Urdu and in English).

How should the DeSIRe be adopted?

Using this decision support intervention in different population and cultural contexts may require some changes. The following is a list of changes that may be needed:

  • names of health care centers or program,
  • animated images of people and names,
  • words difficult to read or translate that affect readability,
  • wording appropriate for the population,
  • culturally sensitive text for the population, and
  • information about the free availability of the screening test.

The DeSIRe has been developed using international guidelines and theories, and for use by healthcare professionals trained to deliver the intervention.  Therefore, any changes to the content of the DeSIRe and/or the delivery format (face-to-face by a healthcare professional), should be made with caution.

Adoption of the DeSIRe in another population is likely to require translation, and cultural and linguistic adaption. Usability and acceptability of the DeSIRe should also be explored in the target population – please see the published articles in ‘Dissemination’ for further information on this.
